“Hippie Haircut” raises money for Make-a-Wish Foundation (The Journal News)(Hair Loss News)

Aiming to raise at least $1,000 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, the 52-year-old, self-described “leftover Deadhead” from Hartsdale chopped off more than a foot of wavy brown hair last night at Pete’s Saloon in Elmsford. The hair will be donated to Locks of Love, which provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children suffering from long-term medical hair loss. The three Nass children had never known their father without long hair and a beard, but had always nagged him to cut them. About a year ago, Steve Nass brought it up again, and this time Ken Nass replied that he would cut his hair only if Steve donated $1,000 to charity. read more
